{Jessica + Jeff} Engagement Wedding Photography; Portland, Oregon

Getting to know Jessica + Jeff before their engagement session in Portland began very interesting enough as I was having a nice latte at Cafe Umbria excited to begin. I got a call from Jessica explaining where they were sitting and well…after looking around for them it looks like I made a slight mistake…I was at the other Cafe Umbria. Note to self…google maps can’t read my mind. Well, at least we all had some good laughs on account of my miscalculation.

So we did meet in one of the cool areas of Portland, (this city has sooo many!), around Park Ave and the Portland Art Museum.  Lo and behold, we came across a very unique showing at the museum of beautiful late 30’s-1945 cars designed at a time when aerodynamics was in style. More importantly than the show was this huge and I mean HUGE poster on the side of the art museum depicting the front of one of these cars. Well, I had to get Jessica + Jeff up on this ledge and see if I could complete the vision I had with an image so with a bit of dodging cars and people we made it work! As an artist, it’s never a given that my ideas will come through with an amazing image but without a doubt I’ve never backed down from an idea regardless of how off the wall it was and I’m sure proud of that (just ask Wendy). A photographer friend once said that it’s those wacky (and truly original) ideas that you owe it to yourself by going after more than any other. Hey, if anything, wacky makes people laugh!

In a two hour engagement session it’s impossible to get every idea in my head onto a new image, (heck, I could shoot for 24hrs and still have enough time)! So really my session with Jessica + Jeff is of course about them, who they are, what they like and I interweave my crazy little mind to somehow get on the same wavelength and create, create, create!  Well, enjoy these tidbits of our fun session together and next time your going to get coffee….
