{Dara + Joel} Black Butte Ranch Wedding Photography

September 4th, 2014 : Weddings

We were so excited to work with Dara + Joel after photographing Dara’s sister’s wedding a few years back!  This dyanamic duo had a classy, colorful event with emotional flowing all day long from family, her sisters and mostly from the incredibly strong community of friends these two have developed together.  What a GREAT group of people to rely on for support and community.  Joel has a passion for landscape photography and also has a great eye (in fact his work was on the note cards for everyone as guest favors), so we knew we really needed to bring our ‘A’ game and be extra picky about light :)  It was a beautiful windy day with puffy white clouds at Black Butte Ranch but the clear sky gave incredible views to the mountains behind.  One of the highlights of Black Butte is the horses when they gallop in the background of a wedding there…so fun!  To top it off, Joel surprised the bride with an awesome Flash Mob style dance at the reception that made everyone laugh!  The band was one of our all time favs and again did a wonderful job keeping everyone on the dance floor…great job Precious Byrd!

Congrats you two on a beautiful day, we were thrilled to see your family again and continue to meet new friends along the way!  I hope you’ve settled into your move and are doing well…we miss you in Bend!

{Laura + Brian} Langdon Farms; Portland, Or Wedding Photography

August 30th, 2014 : Weddings

We traveled to Portland, Or to Langdon Farms for the colorful wedding of {Laura + Brian}!  The day was beautiful and cooled off a tad right before the ceremony.  We LOVED the bride coming down the aisle sign, ‘Hey uncle, wait till you see her!’  In more emotional moments, Laura’s mom and her had a moment in her dress right before the first look where she put her arms around her like she used to do as a little girl and rocked her side-to-side, everyone in the room was in tears (including me) and was also touched by the mementos she had for loved ones lost with an inscription in her dress.  The venue had bright red barn sides and casual elegance to their decor. Congrats on your big day, we’re so excited for you both!

{Ali + Robby} Black Butte Ranch, Oregon Wedding Photography

August 20th, 2014 : Weddings

{Ali + Robby’s} wedding day was beyond amazing as the views surrounding Black Butte Ranch near Sisters, Oregon were the perfect setting for this couple to take the giant leap!  Wonderfully classic would be the term I would use for describing the feel of this wedding as the colors were bright and happy, just the way a wedding should be!  If there was a goal for Ali + Robby’s wedding it would probably be for their family and friends to not only enjoy their time celebrating with them but to truly feel as though they are a part of a community that will become the support for these two as they transition to greater goals and aspirations in the future.  From the laughter, smiles and tears of all attending it’s apparent that these two have touched many in such a natural and caring way that it’s hard to think these two won’t conquer the world as they move forward.  Congratulations you two; we are excited to share some of your wedding images below!  ~B + W

{Brooke + Ryan} Pronghorn Resort, Bend, Oregon Wedding Photography

August 15th, 2014 : Weddings

{Brooke + Ryan}’s wedding at Pronghorn Resort was nothing more than magical.  They specifically planned every detail surrounding them for many months leading up to the day having fallen in love with the European flair of Pronghorn for their ‘mini-destination’ wedding.  Their goal was touches of France and Italy with a bit of a vintage flair.  We were also moved and delighted with the emotion of the day and the special moment of they sharing private vows to each other before the formal ceremony.  Congratulations you two; we are excited to share some of the highlights below!  ~B + W

The vision they wanted to create in their words:
Starting with the entrance, we placed a vintage french picture frame with glass, hand painted with a welcome message adjacent to a table with a simple Tuscan urn of roses for the touch of elegance. In the Chanterelle room, we wanted the tables to be graced with a sense of a Tuscan garden, with all centerpieces and floral arrangements provided by Mint Floral. Gold painted urns and garlands with light blush, white and Tuscan greens pull into the color palette of our event. We created votive candles that added some glitz and glam with some accents of gold. Simple accents like boxwood wreaths, white candles, olive branches, and white bows simply accented the architecture through out the club house and onto the patio were the dance area was.

Most importantly, and one of our favorite spots on the pronghorn property is the new wedding island. When we heard about them breaking ground on this addition to the venue, it really allowed our vision of where Ryan and I would become husband and wife to be complete. The island is so beautiful, so we knew that we wanted to be selective in what we add to not distract to the nature beauty of the surroundings. We purchased an iron arch (from the iron cottage in Lake Oswego) and we hung one of our vintage chandeliers from the center, using the candles of the chandelier as our unity candles for our wedding ceremony. The arch is flanked by two architectural spires and urns imported from France and accented with white hydrangeas. Mint floral beautifully garnished the arch with floral grub to soften the harshness of the iron arch and blend into the context of it’s surroundings. We sourced a 5′ linen  fabric from the Mill End Store in Lake Oswego and had our initials painted in gold painted (in a matching font to the rest of our typography on program/ invites etc). Mini lemon cypress trees in hand painted terra cotta pots line the aisle at the base of every chair while yard and yards of tulling swags down the aisle. The wedding cake was inspired by the vintage glam look with frosting pearls cascading from the top tier and a single garden rose blossom garnishing the top of the cake. The “b” for our last names was the focal on the other tier and two different types of coordinating lace that i sourced from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco. This helped kick the cake up to a whole new level! This area set the backdrop for our favorite moment, which was standing by your best friend, in front of all of our family and friends in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and being being pronounced as husband and wife for the first time.

{Lindsay + Justin} Pronghorn Resort, Bend, Oregon Wedding Photography

August 7th, 2014 : Weddings

An absolutely perfect day for {Lindsay + Justin}’s wedding was marked with friends and family at the beautiful and very European, Tuscany influenced Pronghorn Resort.  These two get the added bragging rights of being the first couple to get married on Pronghorn’s new island venue surrounded by water (and swans) and accessible by this very European looking bridge.  For Lindsay’s engagement session she wrote a wonderful letter to Justin and I thought that it would be nice to add it again to their wedding post as Lindsay makes reference to her wedding day that would happen a year later.  Enjoy!

I remember when I first met you at First Friday and you bought me a cupcake at one of the street booths. I knew right then and there that you were and still are a giving person. Do you remember the first letter we wrote to each other? It is when we both said I love you. That moment is when I knew you were the one.  You have made me become a better person. You made me love myself in a way that I haven’t before. You are so honest and loving. You are my team member. You are my best friend.

I can’t wait for our first look at our wedding. I can’t wait till you get to see me in my gown and I get to see you so handsome in your attire and we just have a moment. We have this moment where we know this is forever and we are doing this. It is actually here.  I can’t wait to kiss you as your wife. I am so honored that I get to be your wife. I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else. You are my one and only.

I love you very much, forever and always,

{Sean + Jessica} Elk Lake Resort, Bend, Oregon Wedding Photography

July 28th, 2014 : Weddings

A beautiful day up at Elk Lake Resort surrounded by the Cascade Mountain Range near Bend, Oregon and your family/friends is all you need for an amazing wedding setting and this was truly the case for {Jessica + Sean’s} wedding!  Some details that stand out is the fact that Sean’s best man and friend Tom was not able to make it because he was having a baby, so Tom’s father Don stood in for him, (and read a tear jerking toast letter in the process)! A photo of Tom’s head and a pic of Tom and his wife was brought to the wedding so theoretically they we’re there!  Also, I think it’s easy to say that I saw the best father/daughter dance to date as Jessica’s father Randy danced to not one but three songs and ripped it up on the floor with his daughter, (Thanks Randy as I will sooo be doing that when my daughter Shelby get’s hitched some day!)  As sunset came one, I knew these two would be ready for some fun after our crazy engagement session in the snow last winter, (I’m sure they remember my impromptu back flip trip in the white stuff while holding my gear eh guys?), so I was super excited they we’re game for some play time on the standup paddle board in their wedding duds.  Thanks you two for a memorable wedding and continued friendship!
