{Tyler + Travis} Portland, Oregon Wedding Engagement Photography Session

June 18th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

Dear Trav,

If someone had told me at the beginning of freshmen year that I would marry the guy with the obscenely large orange messenger bag and Rainforest Café t-shirt, I think I would have laughed. And almost ten years later, I wake up every morning feeling so lucky to have you by my side.

Someone described you today as “very charming.” And while that sounded obsequious, they meant it as fact. And it’s true in the best sense of the word. Your charm comes from the fact that you are genuinely interested in the world around you and the people in it. I am constantly astounded by your attention and care for others, your grounded nature, and your thoroughly good and decent soul. Your intelligence and good looks would let you get away with being more of a jerk, but instead you have dedicated yourself to living with integrity, compassion, and honesty.

Thank you. Thank you for challenging me, for supporting me, for pushing me to do better and be better. Thank you for being kind to me when I’m being cranky, for being the best adventure partner a girl can ask for, and for not minding too much when I try and steal your food. Thank you for believing in me, and believing in us.

I can’t wait for the next bijillion years together.

I love you,

{Kaitlin + Brent} Madras, Oregon Engagement Photography Session

May 5th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

When we first met, I immediately noticed your blue eyes and friendly smile. We spent the entire evening hanging out with friends dancing and having a great time. Your “dance hands” were out in full force that night — I knew then you were someone I could have fun with.

When I was house/dog sitting for a week and a big snowstorm hit Portland – you came and picked me up in your truck; drove to my parent’s house, and picked up my Mother so we could go to the grocery store to get groceries — I knew then you were a caretaker.

When we finally started dating and during one of our trips to Black Butte, you sat on the couch with 3-year-old Lizzie and read her stories from her book. I had never seen you interact with children before and was a bit afraid of how you would be. I couldn’t take my eyes of watching you play and read with her — I knew then you would be an amazing father.

When I flew back from a work trip in California late on a Friday night and we hoped in the truck from the airport and drove straight to Black Butte to play in the snow at 1am — I knew then you were my best friend.

When I decided to change jobs to something new, you encouraged me the entire way. No matter how scared I was, you gave me love and support — I knew then you would always be a supportive partner.

When you took me for the first time to your farm and we drove around on the tractor in the fields until it was completely dark outside — I knew then I loved you and always wanted to be a part of your life.

There are so many things I have learned from you and about you over the last few years. I am so thankful for all of these things, because now I know that I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you with all my heart!

xoxo, Kaitlin

{Jenny + Josh} Central Oregon Engagement Photo Session

April 17th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

My Dearest Joshua,

I remember the day I met you so very clearly. You were visiting Rick in Las Vegas and I was going to school with Rick’s girlfriend in Las Vegas. It was such a chance meeting. Erin invited me to hang out to celebrate passing our nursing exam that day. You had just arrived with Donny and Rick. I glanced your way and thought, “Wow, he’s tall.” Then you looked my way and smiled, you know, the smile that shows off your dimples. We were introduced and hit it off immediately. I told you I was from Hawaii and you told me your mom was from Hawaii. You had me at “Hawaii”. We were inseparable that night and I knew that things were never going to be the same for me anymore.

We decided to commit to each other and start a long distance relationship. We visited each other frequently and each time, it got harder and harder for me to say goodbye. After I graduated, I couldn’t wait to move to Oregon. As I got settled in Oregon, our relationship grew deeper, beyond anything I have ever experienced. We’ve learned to communicate effectively with each other and everything fell in to place. Before I met you, my life was full of chaos and uncertainty. I’m now in a place that is calm and serene, but exciting and exhilarating, all at the same time. It’s because of you.

Your love, kindness and thoughtfulness makes me the luckiest girl in the world. When good things happen, I get so excited because I’ll get to share them with you. When bad things happen, I know you’ll be there to comfort me and just like that, the world is right again.

I’m excited to become Mrs. Manning in June! I can’t wait to say “I do” in front of our family and friends and dance the night away. You’ll be my husband and I’ll be your wife! I’m incredibly blessed and so very lucky to have you in my life. I love you now, I’ll love you forever and I’ll love you a thousand lifetimes after.

My Dearest Ryan,

I remember the first time I met you, our freshman year in the Carson dorms at the university of Oregon. You had this calm about you, an excitement for adventure and not to mention your good looks. It wasn’t until our junior year that we really became friends and I discovered what a truly amazing person you are. You, without thought, go out of your way to help anyone at any time, and would do anything for your family and friends.

After we started dating when I moved to San Francisco, it was impossible for me not to fall in love with you. Despite hours of daily commuting to see each other, I always felt like you were right by my side. You have always been so attentive take great care of me, and know how to make me laugh with your goofy antics. With you, I know that there will never be a dull moment.  I love your constant entertainment, our adventures exploring the bay, but most of all, I love the times we get to hang out at home with our pup, and create memorable moments together.

Ryan, you are such an animated, and loving man, with a genuinely gentle soul and that’s what I adore most about you. I cannot wait to walk down the isle next year, see your handsome self in your fancy attire, and most of all, become your wife!! You truly are my best friend, the love of my life, and I cannot wait for our many, many adventures ahead together.

Dear Josh,

I knew you were special as soon as we meet. Not only did you follow my lead on the dance floor that night but you offered to get me a glass of water and sit with me. I could tell what a caring and thoughtful man you were. Eight years later, you still are the most thoughtful and caring person that I know.

Remember when you used to say that I was so hot and cold and it drove you nuts? Well, over the years you have continued to bring out the best in me. You have helped me become a more calm, confident and balanced person. You are my best friend and my partner in life. I feel blessed and lucky to share my life with you and I’m so extremely excited to officially be your wife.

Cheers to our forever,

August 1st, 2013 : Engagements, Letter Series

My Dearest Steve,

We met eleven years ago on October, 6th when we were both a part of Liz and Alex’s wedding party.  So refreshing to meet a man like you! We seemed to have a good connection from the start, since you asked for my phone number and then tagged along with me and another bridesmaid after the wedding.  It was comfortable to take our relationship slow and really build a strong foundation of friendship before we agreed to date only each other six months after meeting.  When we decided to commit to each other, this was the first time in my life I gave up the single life and really started to think about us in all decisions going forward.  I hadn’t done this with my prior relationships and I knew something was very special about you and our relationship. I found myself enjoying not just focusing on taking care of myself but more and more on nourishing and building our relationship together.

Over the years you have become my best friend; I love how honest and open we can be with each other.  I think our best quality as a couple is our willingness to communicate and share things with each other.  You have taught me there isn’t always a right way to do things; we often get to the same place using different paths.  We started out two people who were very different from one another in many ways. It amazes me how much we have both chosen to grow towards each other, leaving the parts of us that were extremely different in our pasts in preference of becoming two individuals who stand as unique people but when together have found ways to successfully live our lives more similarly than differently…I love the fact that we grow closer together each day of every year.  Of course, we still have a lot of differences, but I’m glad we have learned to work on our challenges and not give up on the amazing relationship we have created together.

My favorite times are those we spend together at home just being silly and making each other laugh. When we met, you brought a lot of joy to my life and anytime I’m having a bad day…I’m able to think about you, our love and how wonderful it is to come home to you. Thinking of you when we are not together makes me smile. I’m so glad I’ve found the love of my life!

Why is it so easy to love you?  Your kind heart touches me in a place my heart that was untouched before I met you.   Everyday some little thing happens that shows me how much you care.  You love to surprise me when I least expect it. You encourage me to chase my dreams and support me to strive hard to meet my goals.  Your sense of humor always keeps me laughing and I love your playful spirit.  You are smart and influence me to learn new things. You are easy going and patient with me all the time. These are the delightful qualities about you that keep me coming home to you every day.

I’m excited to become your wife in August. I can’t wait to stand up in front of our friends and family and confess my love for you as I become Mrs. Womack.  Thank you for all the fun adventures and amazing memories over the last eleven years and I look forward to our future together; I know we have amazing things ahead of us. I can’t wait to begin the next part of this remarkable journey together!
