{Katie + Bryan} Portland, Oregon Engagement Photography Session

April 21st, 2014 : Engagements
{Katie & Bryan}’s engagement session in Portland, Oregon was a fantastic encounter of the grit and glamor that is part of this super eclectic city. From the image of the Care Bear bicyclist , you’d understand rather quickly that the concept of “Portlandia” is and always will be going strong, (it’s why we love this town-never a dull moment!).  From the stories of past American Idol competition to a recent relocation to the Boulder, CO area it sounds like these two never have a dull moment either! We can’t wait to see you both again for your wedding at Resort at the Mountain, Mt Hood this summer!!

{Julie Ann + Javad} Engagement Photography; Brasada Ranch, Powell Butte Oregon

April 18th, 2014 : Engagements

We had a ton of fun jumping around one of our client’s favorite Central Oregon spots near Powell Butte, Brasada Ranch, for {Julie Ann + Javad’s} engagement session recently.  These two are in love with everything bikes…road, cross and mountain and in their words they wanted , “a badass shot of us and our bikes.”  We definitely understand their passion and could see what they wanted to achieve as we’re a cycling family as well.   So not only did we have fun photographing them in their street duds, they also dressed up in their race kits and killed it with their badassness!  You’ll want to check this engagement shoot out.

{Jenny + Josh} Central Oregon Engagement Photo Session

April 17th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

My Dearest Joshua,

I remember the day I met you so very clearly. You were visiting Rick in Las Vegas and I was going to school with Rick’s girlfriend in Las Vegas. It was such a chance meeting. Erin invited me to hang out to celebrate passing our nursing exam that day. You had just arrived with Donny and Rick. I glanced your way and thought, “Wow, he’s tall.” Then you looked my way and smiled, you know, the smile that shows off your dimples. We were introduced and hit it off immediately. I told you I was from Hawaii and you told me your mom was from Hawaii. You had me at “Hawaii”. We were inseparable that night and I knew that things were never going to be the same for me anymore.

We decided to commit to each other and start a long distance relationship. We visited each other frequently and each time, it got harder and harder for me to say goodbye. After I graduated, I couldn’t wait to move to Oregon. As I got settled in Oregon, our relationship grew deeper, beyond anything I have ever experienced. We’ve learned to communicate effectively with each other and everything fell in to place. Before I met you, my life was full of chaos and uncertainty. I’m now in a place that is calm and serene, but exciting and exhilarating, all at the same time. It’s because of you.

Your love, kindness and thoughtfulness makes me the luckiest girl in the world. When good things happen, I get so excited because I’ll get to share them with you. When bad things happen, I know you’ll be there to comfort me and just like that, the world is right again.

I’m excited to become Mrs. Manning in June! I can’t wait to say “I do” in front of our family and friends and dance the night away. You’ll be my husband and I’ll be your wife! I’m incredibly blessed and so very lucky to have you in my life. I love you now, I’ll love you forever and I’ll love you a thousand lifetimes after.

{Laura + Brian} Portland, OR Engagement Photo Session

March 20th, 2014 : Engagements

I met {Laura + Brian} out at the McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse & Imbrie Hall in Hillsboro just west of Portland after driving the prerequisite 3 hours from Bend while it rained the entire time.  Thinking that we might be doing much of their engagement session inside, just as I pulled into this eclectic area that only the McMenamin brothers can create so well, it stopped raining and it was game time!  Usually when I meet a new couple for the first time at their engagement session I want to sit and chat a while to give them a little pep talk so to speak but in this case we all thought it best to not chance the monsoon that could be right around the corner.  So off we went to this sweet octagonal barn on the property to start and I was so impressed how {Laura + Brian} immediately just started joking with each other with this relaxed air to them and I knew the session would not only be fun but easy to get super natural and emotional images of the two of them.  At some point our chatting came around to their winery around Grants Pass, (yes, these two make wine-how cool is that!), and we see this shed and the talk goes to, “hey, I wonder if there’s anything cool in there?”.  So we go in and it turns out there’s this sweet 1800′s French copper distillery where their making at the moment small batches of brandy, gin and other sweets to tickle your palette.  The master of this contraption is a fella by the name of Bart and not only did he let us photograph around the distillery, he even gave us a history lesson of the distillery and how it’s all done – Bart, your awesome!   I only have one thing to say to you all out at McMenamins Roadhouse, Thank You for making {Laura + Brian}’s engagement session super memorable!  {Laura + Brian}, we can’t wait to see you guys again for your wedding at Langdon Farms!

{Brooke + Patrick} Seattle, WA Engagement Photo Session

February 6th, 2014 : Engagements

Brooke + Patrick are one solid couple!  When it’s their engagement photo session in Seattle, WA and it’s raining sideways you tend to see how well couples work together, (to keep warm after their coats have been off for a while in 35F weather!!).  There’s been this running joke between Wendy and I of how we have this seriously laughable good weather karma when we have photo sessions coming up.  We’ll be driving somewhere and it’ll be pouring rain but when we get to the location the skies open up and everything is beautiful.  Well……that didn’t necessarily happen to Brooke + Patrick but I will say that not only did we capture this really cool couple together, (without floating away), we were stoked to get some really unique images of the two of them at the Fremont Troll, (I love how the troll has the Seahawk’s 12 painted on his face!) and Fremont Bridge plus the Olympic Sculpture Park.  You guys were awesome today and can’t wait to see you again at your wedding!!

{Jessica + Sean} Oregon Engagement Photo Session

December 23rd, 2013 : Engagements

It’s funny how small and how large our little town of Bend, Oregon is.  Sean and I never really met each other but we we’re on the same cycling team in our town, (he raced in a way faster class so it’s not too surprising) but it was his sister who found us for their wedding photography!  Jessica and Sean really wanted to get some pictures in the snow, (and Wendy and I are always game for anything!!) so we went up to Mt Bachelor and wow was that a change of weather!  Those photo’s of Jessica and Sean on the chairlift we’re crazy to capture as it was blowing 30+ and so cold it took your breath away.  During the photography of images further down the mountain next to the Bachelor sign I did something I’ve never done before…..I proceeded to backup, catch my boot on a Manzanita bush and do a complete backwards summer salt while holding my camera in one hand and a bag of lenses over my shoulder.  It felt fairly graceful, (probably helped that we had about 1.5 feet of snow for padding) and surprisingly nothing got broke!  Anyway, we all had a fantastic time running around the Bend area in search of fun and uniquely creative locations that we hope you’ll enjoy!
