{Tyler + Travis} Portland, Oregon Wedding Engagement Photography Session

June 18th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

Dear Trav,

If someone had told me at the beginning of freshmen year that I would marry the guy with the obscenely large orange messenger bag and Rainforest Café t-shirt, I think I would have laughed. And almost ten years later, I wake up every morning feeling so lucky to have you by my side.

Someone described you today as “very charming.” And while that sounded obsequious, they meant it as fact. And it’s true in the best sense of the word. Your charm comes from the fact that you are genuinely interested in the world around you and the people in it. I am constantly astounded by your attention and care for others, your grounded nature, and your thoroughly good and decent soul. Your intelligence and good looks would let you get away with being more of a jerk, but instead you have dedicated yourself to living with integrity, compassion, and honesty.

Thank you. Thank you for challenging me, for supporting me, for pushing me to do better and be better. Thank you for being kind to me when I’m being cranky, for being the best adventure partner a girl can ask for, and for not minding too much when I try and steal your food. Thank you for believing in me, and believing in us.

I can’t wait for the next bijillion years together.

I love you,

{Jessica + Bill} Portland, Oregon Wedding Engagement Photography Session

June 12th, 2014 : Engagements

So we met {Jessica + Bill} for the first time up in Seattle, Washington and being an animal lover, I couldn’t stop playing with their super cute French Bulldog by the name of Steve.  It’s awesome how many people love animals but little did I know of Steve’s charm and good looking magnetism while we we’re on their wedding engagement session in Portland, Oregon.  To say that Steve was stealing the show would put it mildly as it wasn’t the typical people asking, “Is this your engagement photography?  Congratulations!”.  Nope, it was, Oh my God, that’s such a cute dog”, “what’s his name?”, “I/We love French Bulldogs”……  Ok, I digress as all this chat takes us away from what we’re here for, which is to celebrate {Jessica + Bill}’s engagement and wedding right?!!  So these two met in SF, got engaged in the San Juan Islands at this historic hotel that evidently has the coolest Irish bartender, LOVE wine tasting, good food, great friends, travel and duh…dogs!  Oh, and then there’s some sky diving in to top it off, right Jessica?   Please enjoy the images and Wendy and I can’t wait to see you guys again down at Wente Vineyards in CA!  Cheers!!

{Stef + Jon} Portland, Oregon Wedding Engagement Photography Session

May 12th, 2014 : Engagements

I knew we we’re going to have fun on {Stef + Jon}’s engagement session when they wanted to jump in a mud puddle and splash around at Laurelhurst Park in Portland during their engagement photo session.  Even though we ended up pushing that off to a latter date, (can you say “trash the dress session”?), I just know they couldn’t stop thinking about it!  Totally loving the outdoors, Stef + Jon had tons of stories of playing outside together including climbing, running ect. and also getting engaged in Zanzibar, East Africa.  I knew these two we’re going to be inseparable though when they explained to me their sparing matches with each other.  “Those that play together, stay together”…not sure who said that but I do think it’s right on!  Wendy and I look forward to your wedding this summer at Caldera in Sisters and please enjoy the images!!

{Dara + Joel} Smith Rock State Park Wedding Engagement Photography Session

May 7th, 2014 : Engagements

It’s always a complement when relatives through our past clients hire us as their wedding photographers but it’s even that much cooler when some of these family work as professional photographers!  With {Dara + Joel}’s interest in wine, our first stop on this shoots adventure was to downtown Redmond where the owner of the newly established Red Martini Wine Bar and Grill graciously let us in after hours to take advantage of this really funky/cool seating bench which you’ll need to check out below.  In addition to photographing out at Smith Rock State Park and the Red Martini, we wanted to create something cool in one of the many lava tubes surrounding the Central Oregon area so if you’re ever up for an adventure these things are so fun to check out!!  The final part of our adventure was when we got out to Smith Rock, and the light could not have been more amazing to capture the two of them.  That being said, we can’t wait for your wedding at Black Butte Ranch in addition to all the stories after your travels to Indo!  Enjoy

{Kaitlin + Brent} Madras, Oregon Engagement Photography Session

May 5th, 2014 : Engagements, Letter Series

When we first met, I immediately noticed your blue eyes and friendly smile. We spent the entire evening hanging out with friends dancing and having a great time. Your “dance hands” were out in full force that night — I knew then you were someone I could have fun with.

When I was house/dog sitting for a week and a big snowstorm hit Portland – you came and picked me up in your truck; drove to my parent’s house, and picked up my Mother so we could go to the grocery store to get groceries — I knew then you were a caretaker.

When we finally started dating and during one of our trips to Black Butte, you sat on the couch with 3-year-old Lizzie and read her stories from her book. I had never seen you interact with children before and was a bit afraid of how you would be. I couldn’t take my eyes of watching you play and read with her — I knew then you would be an amazing father.

When I flew back from a work trip in California late on a Friday night and we hoped in the truck from the airport and drove straight to Black Butte to play in the snow at 1am — I knew then you were my best friend.

When I decided to change jobs to something new, you encouraged me the entire way. No matter how scared I was, you gave me love and support — I knew then you would always be a supportive partner.

When you took me for the first time to your farm and we drove around on the tractor in the fields until it was completely dark outside — I knew then I loved you and always wanted to be a part of your life.

There are so many things I have learned from you and about you over the last few years. I am so thankful for all of these things, because now I know that I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you with all my heart!

xoxo, Kaitlin
