The Right Person, The Right Moment – Family Portraits; Bend, Oregon

February 1st, 2011 : Everyday Moments, Portraits

There’s times in your life when the right person comes along at the right time – out of the blue – and forever makes an impact.  Sharon is one of those special people, with big smiles and an even bigger heart.  She was a recommendation from a former bride when we were on the hunt for a caretaker for our dogs during our recent wedding shoot in Mexico.  Our ‘kids’ (our dogs, Miles and Dizzy of course!) were getting older and needed some extra special attention.  Dizzy has been having some trouble with a tumor on her arm and we thought it would be best to have someone take care of her and stay at the house.

The worst happened and during our trip, Dizzy very rapidly went downhill and passed away.  Without Sharon’s dedication and love, the experience would have been extremely difficult (as it was, losing a pet you’ve spent 13 years with is tough enough!).  There’s not enough gratitude in the world that we can share to say thank you.  As a tribute and small token of thanks, we invited Sharon and her adorable 12 year Boston Terrier, Brodie, to do some formal portraits.

Sharon, you are a God-send and true friend.

Many, many thanks,

B + W

These are the kind of shots where I wonder what Brodie is thinking….

November 27th, 2010 : Portraits

Max is a runner….a REALLY, REALLY fast runner.  We’ve had the pleasure of doing some shooting for him and his sponsors in the past but recently he called to do a family portrait session for the holidays with his wife Dory and their adorable little guy.  These are, if you will, the softer side of Max.

We had some fun chasing Micah (the little guy) and their black lab around the Old Mill during a day with a spectacular sunset.  Although there are lots of posed shots of the family; we decided to showcase the spontaneous ones – cause that’s how we roll.  Our total favs, and what made Micah giggle the most, was when Max was pushing him up in the air.  Truly, he was beaming from cheek to cheek.  See for yourself!

Thanks Max + Dory and Happy Holidays!

To Byron, From Ninfi: Wedding Anniversary Photography Bend, Oregon

My Dearest Byron – my husband, my lover, my best friend

42 years, incredible, it went so fast.  I can remember our wedding like it was yesterday – all my dreams came true that day.  So many wonderful happenings in 42 years.  Two wonderful sons, vacations, work, sailing, skiing, tennis, motorcross, great music and so much more.

I start voicing a thought and you finish it.  We sometimes think about the same thing at the same time.  Your smile and the twinkle in your eyes makes my heart beat faster because I know they are just for me.  You are so caring and tender, you make me feel safe and loved.

My favorite poem says it all -

How do I love thee,
I love thee to the depth,
and breath and height my soul can reach.

Grow old with me my dear, the best is yet to come.

All my love, now and forever,
Ninfi

Mom and Dad,

You both are our biggest fans and ultimate role models.  It’s a constant reminder of what can be possible when you wake up and choose love every day of your marriage.  We can only hope to attain the joy and happiness you both live everyday after 40 more years!  Thank you for so openly sharing your love with everyone around you, you probably have no idea how deep of an impact you make in us and others that admire from afar.

Even during this session (your first ‘real’ professional photography session!), you couldn’t keep your hands off each other and a tear was seen here and there.  That’s pure love.

Here’s a gift to your anniversary and to many, many healthy and happy years together.

All our love,

B + W

Love is a beautiful thing at any age….

Now that’s one HANDSOME man!

Mom with one of her endless giggles, she’s constantly smiling.

A Family Portrait Session for The Source Weekly – Bend, Oregon

February 8th, 2010 : Portraits

I had the opportunity last week to go out and do a family portrait photoshoot for a good cause.  The Source Weekly was running an article about a family who left their dog Zoe at a kennel for three days to only come back and find their dog was ill.  After much undercover work from the family, it turned out that Zoe had been beaten by one of the employees at the kennel and sustained a multitude of injuries – including six broken ribs.  Now the family is looking into what they can do to tighten up the laws regulating kennels not only in the state of Oregon but thoughout the country.

I’m happy to say that Zoe and the Burton family were in great spirits when I came over for the photoshoot and I want to thank both John and Caren for their hospitality in letting me into their home.  I look forward to keeping up the Burton’s success in changing kennel regulations and applaud them for their efforts.  As you all know, Wendy and I have two of our own dogs and I’m sure all of you pet owners out there are on the same wave length with me when I say that this should never have happened and should never happen again! A beautiful portrait for a beautiful dog.

A Bend Family Fall Portrait with Kelsi and Best Friend, Angus

October 27th, 2009 : Portraits

A good friend, Kelsi, called me up recently in tears as her dog, and best friend, Angus has been having liver trouble and it didn’t look good.  She realized she didn’t have any really good photos of the two of them and wanted to know if we would do a family portrait.  With fall colors in full rage, we set out to take Angus on a brief hike and follow the Deschutes river by Meadow camp in Bend, Oregon.  Having two dogs of our own, Miles and Dizzy, we understand the connection between ourselves and our favorite pets (Idiosyncrasies and all).  I hope Angus is able to pull through – he’ll forever remind me of a gangly teenager, connected at the hip to his mother and always drooling :)   We love ya Kelsi – all the best to you and I hope these images bring some smiles as you walk by them in your home of the wonderful dog that is Angus.

United Way Advertising Campaign Photoshoot In Bend, Oregon

September 18th, 2009 : Portraits

I recently had the opportunity to do some work with United Way Of Central Oregon for a new ad campaign they were working on.  My friend Jeff Coffey’s who runs a cool streaming multimedia business called StreamiT http://www.streamitmedia.com/ offered to let us do the photoshoot over at his studio.  So with the help of Mark Quon www.quondc.com who would be the art director on the project we began working with the  volunteers who would be modeling.  All the volunteers on this project have helped United Way in the past so this made it real fun for everyone.  Having friends with children always seems to help at some point and in this case Jeff was able to call his two daughters up to join the fun and I was also able to get my friend Tracy’s two daughters as well.  I was amazed at how the three families of girls automatically were able to “act” as though they had know each other for years and the photos really show this!  In the end, we got amazing images and had a blast doing it.  Oh, why is the background all white, (for the most part)?  We shot against a green screen that allows the graphic artist to choose the color of the background, (preferably white).  I’m not a big fan of this but hey, I don’t get the opportunity to make someone levitate often!
