{Mandy + Christoffer} Broken Top Club Wedding; Bend, Oregon

October 18th, 2010 : Weddings

Mandy + Christoffer are a classic couple and their Broken Top Club wedding exuded simple elegance from beginning to end.  He’s Danish, she’s American and it was a multicultural event where even we walked away with a few Danish lessons :)   Take the Danish wedding cake for example (see below), or when the groom leaves the table…all the men have to kiss the cheek of the bride, or like most Europeans, the meal was the focal point of the evening and was multiple courses.  Two families, coming together as one from opposite sides of the world.

We wish you both the ultimate happiness Mandy and Christoffer on your journey together!

You know that moment, right after the bride and groom run down the aisle and they stand their in private just looking at each other?  Love that split second to snap a shot like this (from inside as you can see my reflection)

Dear Tamara and Tim,

Thank you for opening your hearts to friends and family on September 18. We absolutely loved celebrating as you committed your lives to one another. The readings, music and your vows from the heart lifted the spirits of everyone present. Your wedding day is a gift we will treasure always.

Our hugs surround you with unconditional love as together you journey forward on life’s great adventure……

Mom and Dad (Marcia and Tom)

*********
Tamara and Timothy:

It is difficult to put into words exactly what I want to convey to you both:

A wedding is a milestone. The ceremony and gathering of family and friends was both extraordinary and unique. Your radiant faces and excitement showed all who were there just how incredible and fabulous your relationship is. Also, the love you share and the depth of your commitment toward one another was abundantly evident in the vows you wrote and shared in the presence of those gathered around you. All of the priceless memories will be recalled when we look at the wonderful pictures which capture the essence of your special day.

The two of you share the same inquisitive nature and each and every new experience seems to be done with wonder and joy. There is no doubt that whether standing on a mountain top, viewing a sunrise or sunset or maneuvering through life’s challenges, you will do so hand and hand and only see the beauty and fun of each experience shared together.

May the future continue to hold endless possibilities and joy for you both.

Love,

Mom (Sherry)

Tamara + Tim,

WOW!!  You guys have such awesome family and friends; both parents jumped in wholeheartedly with two fantastic love letters.  Your wedding was beautifully crafted to match your adventurous and passionate personalities, two traits we admire and appreciate.  Making friends with clients is like the icing on an already delicious cake and here again is why we love what we do.  Between the poetic readings, Johnny Cash and numerous toasts, it’s obvious you two surround yourself with the best.  Thank you for letting us participate in your special day and everyone’s flexibility when the rain came!  …and to top it off with a dance party for all dance parties!

All the best,

B + W

The fun shoes may have been Wendy’s idea but Tamara, you picked some FUN shoes…you go.

A cute moment in the girls room with Tamara and her niece.

Love this soft bridal portrait and the natural light window in the back…yum.

The bride was hidden by the umbrella until the last, final, endless…moment. :)

Some of the best readings and music…all touching tributes to love.

This was one of the countless times Tamara’s hand went to her chest – a guesture when she’s moved..no doubt.

One of our all time favs…and yes, it was RAINING!  Mosquitoes or rain…nothing stops these two.

…prepping for the first dance on the golf course.

The only moment these two didn’t smile!  Thanks for the ‘farmer portrait’ you two :)

Tim cutting the rug with some fun rear sync flash love. Or is it that Tim knows something we don’t about tele-transportation?!  Oh, the party!

To Heather + Phillip; From Mom + Dad: Elk Lake Resort Wedding Photography, Bend Oregon

August 27th, 2010 : Letter Series, Weddings

Heather + Phillip,

We are so pleased that everything went very, very well for the whole weekend. Everyone pitched in.  We enjoyed meeting all your friends, co-workers, and Phillip’s family.

We thought your photographers, Byron and Wendy, were wonderfully creative and are looking forward to seeing the pictures. The music was very appropriate for the setting.  Roland White and Fiddleplay played with enthusiasm despite being wrapped in blankets to keep warm.

With all the preplanning everything worked out just the way it was supposed it – the caterer, the wedding dress, the favors were extremely appropriate for the cold afternoon, the wedding rehearsal dinner was a real treat with the wonderful dinner and the fun of the chairlift rides, combining 2 birthdays on Thursday, the group shot on the mountain, wedding on Saturday and your honeymoon trip.

The guys did their own activities (golfing, rifle range and a strenuous hike) judiciously keeping out of the way of intricate final wedding arrangements.

Dad is glad he was able to strike up good memories with the wedding toast.

The canoe ride was an excellent “sailing off into the sunset” way of ending to the ceremony.

A successful marriage requires a lot of give and take and lots of patience.  You two are off to a good start.
“May your lives be successful, may you have the patience to work out your problems big and small, and may you have a long life together.”

Mom and Dad

H + P,

SUCH a joy to see you two wed.  After seeing the entire relationship unfold from a simple meeting to full blown love, we’re so stoked for the two of you to embark on this new journey together.  You’re some of our closest friends and we couldn’t be more happy for you.  On to the next adventure, a pitter patter maybe? :)

Love,

B + W

August 3rd, 2010 : Letter Series, Weddings

Tana + Mike,

There are moments in life that are breathtaking and sacred; your wedding day was one of them.  We will cherish this moment in time forever and especially when we reflect on the photographs.

Tana, seeing you looking so radiant and beautiful in that elegant gown touched both our hearts so deeply and Mike, knowing your such a fine man, looking like a strong oak tree that can withstand any of life’s storms that may come your way is like a dream come true for us parents and grandparents.

You both have honored each other on this most special day through your love and vows to one another.  May they only grow more meaningful and precious to you both as time goes by.  Take good care of each other and never take each other for granted.

These photographs say it all!  Thanks to Byron Roe Photography.  What a gift of truly wonderful artistry from Byron + Wendy to us all – unforgettable.

…now let the real fun begin!  That’s Mike saying, “I’m taking you home tonight!”

Special thanks to the father of the bride, who let them borrow a 1970s fully restored Buick , you’ll see why in a sec!

Now that is priceless…cutting and smiling, did you practice that? :)

Enter Tana in her ‘reception dress’ – um, yeah…Wendy wants one now.

An 80s party wouldn’t be complete without a balloon dropping to Prince’s “Party like it’s 1999.”

From red fishnets to green, Tana – you can pull anything off.

That’s a groom that’s truly happy.

One of our favs with the headlight flare; get a room you TWO!  he he

{Meredith + Joe} Wedding; The Blacksmith Restaurant Bend, Oregon

July 8th, 2010 : Weddings

From day one, Meredith and Joe have been easy-going, relaxed and just plain happy.  As a prelude, the engagement session was filled with laughs (and towards the end even a few cocktails), so when we geared up for the wedding, we knew it was going to be one big party.  Holding true to their philosophy for ‘great drinks, great food and great people’, Meredith and Joe chose The Blacksmith Restaurant in Bend, Oregon as their special place.  The staff was AMAZING and made it an easy process.  The wedding was simple, crowded by the best of family and friends and the toasts had everyone practically rolling with laughter and joy.

We have to say that Meredith and Joe have been one our forefront supporters from day one of hiring us and we are SO grateful.  They even had a separate table, with name tags, for us at the wedding and a full course meal – a special touch which was over the top.  Thank you, thank you for letting us share this experience with you both and jumping on suggestions for fun places to shoot!  The night topper was when Meredith jumped on the backlit bar. :)

You two are amazing and we are so happy as you start your new journey together.  CHEERS!

Best,

B + W

Mere, has anyone told you that you have the most FANTASTIC legs!  So, jealous – Wendy

A unique angle getting ready to head down for the ‘first look.’

Oh, how Wendy loves detail shots :)   They had these super cool matches…

The ceremony…

As their closest friends and family look on set through the reflection of the wine glasses, Mere and Joe say their vows.

With only a few drops of sweat and tears, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davis! :)

As a special treat, their steaks were ‘flambeed.’  Did I spell that right?  Oh, that’s hot!

Joyous toasts with story after story of these two…so fun.

A little fun after the ceremony, grawrrr.

Mere’s Cinderella moment, as her prince charming puts on her blue slipper.

To: Mere and Joe; From: The Blacksmith Staff!  Congrats!  Disclaimer:  This is only meant as a joke and the staff are NOT actually drinking their liquor :)

High class ambiance.

Forever more their anniversary will be shared with Joe’s birthday – double the celebration!  The whole gang sang for Joe and the staff entertained him with a GIANT cookie.

On a whim, the bride decides to chill out on top of the beautifully lit bar.  Mere is one of those fearless types we love.

{Emily + David} Wedding – McMenamins Bend, Oregon

June 25th, 2010 : Weddings

This awesome San Francisco couple were such a joy to photograph.  Their wedding, hosted by McMenamins Old St. Francis, got the brunt of the weird weather Bend has been having lately but thankfully, when you’re surrounded by your best friends and family, even the weather can’t get you down.

Everything from the getting ready toasts, the ‘first sighting’ under the arbor, the umbrella shots to the ceremonial flowers and kiss had a sparkle to them.  Even when the rain was a damper, it helped the colors become more vibrant – isn’t it good luck anyway?

The absolute highlight came at the very end of the evening right as we were ready to go.  We said briefly, gosh it’d be great to get some shots in the soaking pool area and Emily replied, ‘Yeah!  Let’s do it’ – grabbed David and that was it.  She casually dipped her feet in for relief when we briefly mentioned that we’d always wanted to shoot a bride in her dress in the pool.  Inch by inch, she said “what about this?”  Then…she went for it :)   She looked like a goddess and I can’t imagine how that must have felt after the energy of the day.  We weren’t expecting such fearlessness (it was a like a trash the dress session on the wedding day!) but were like, yeah GO FOR IT!

Thank you, Emily + David for such a FUN day and choosing to share your shining moment with us.

All the best,

B + W

For details, they had custom printed matches, dated M & Ms and custom wine classes for guest gifts – beautiful.
