{Melissa + Nick} W Hotel Lakeshore Chicago, IL Wedding Photography
We’ve had quite an adventure with these two! We met over 2 years ago at a fabulous Spa W event in town and it was obvious from day one Melissa’s love for luxury and detail! They have a flair for fabulous style and fun all wrapped up into one. The first wedding (one of two celebrations these two are planning – the second in Portland, Or next month) was held recently at the modern W Hotel on the Lakeshore in Chicago, IL. They had a colorful, almost planetary theme, for their event, which took place on the 33rd floor of the hotel with incredible views of Navy Pier and cityscape on either side – you couldn’t go wrong!
Details flourished from Nick’s wedding logo monogrammed cufflinks, custom belt and fabulous Dutchess suit to Melissa’s 1930s vintage Tiffany & Co. ring, Swarovski jewels, raw silk designer gown and antique engraved gifts for each other and Melissa’s son Sage that were incredibly beautiful and heartfelt. Orchids filled her bouquet and the event space with purples, blues, pinks and whites to match the Altitude event space. Their guest favors were large bags of a little taste of Portland (their hometown) with a Deschutes beer, Moonstruck chocolate and Stumptown coffee. There was not a dry eye during the ceremony as they read their vows to each other and to Sage.
In addition to their spectacular day, we did a ‘day after’ fun session with these two in downtown Chicago to capture more of the skyline, iconic areas of Chicago and indoors at the W Hotel downtown – pure fun for all of us and we’re so excited about sharing the results!
Melissa + Nick…we can’t wait to capture round two in Portland and continue sharing such a special time in your lives!

We were contacted by Oregon Bride magazine a few months ago to discuss one of our favorite places to shoot (for engagement, wedding getting ready details, boudoir, reception or wedding) for a ‘modern, urban’ venue in Bend, Oregon – The Oxford Hotel.
Every time we are scheduled to shoot at the Oxford, we are delighted because of the elegance and creativity of the decor and vibe as well as the incredible customer service team! Oregon Bride was running an article on urban venues around Oregon and wanted to use an image and few quotes about this special space. We are delighted to be featured!

{Leah + Alec} Seventh Mountain Resort Wedding Photography Bend, Or; New Year’s Eve Wedding
We are so excited to share in the POP and SIZZLE of {Leah + Alec’s} New Year’s Eve wedding celebration at the Seventh Mountain Resort here in Bend, Oregon. The dreams of snow were abound with this romantic and intimate outdoor, night ceremony with temps at about zero degrees! This fabulous Seattle couple rang in the New Year with a celebratory kiss and sparkler bridge from their closest friends and family…I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off 2013! The masquerade theme added to the colorful flair of this beautiful couple.
CONGRATS you two…we can’t wait to share in all that comes next for you both!

2012 Byron Roe Photography Year in Review: Weddings, Engagements, Travel, Awards, Press and more…
The year has flown by and looking back not only puts a huge smile on our faces but reminds us of how lucky we are to work around such positivity and love in the world of weddings. Families and couples put their trust in us to capture their beauty anywhere in the world and this year has been nothing less than spectacular in that regard! From shoots in Arizona, Las Vegas, New York City, back and forth trips to Portland, Seattle times three…to France, Italy and then back again three weeks later for a wedding in Berlin, Germany…to the beautiful local wedding venues of Brasada Ranch, Pronghorn and Sunriver Resort, we are just plain excited about the art and growth of Byron Roe Photography this year.
Unforgettable 2012 highlights include: documenting the sweetest Seattle surprise proposal, the dramatic Smith Rock climbing ‘trash the dress’ session, cycling through natural rock arches in Provence, France with VeloSki tours, drinking true Weisse beers in Berlin and stepping foot in the amazing, historical library of the Schloss Neuhardenberg, standing in front of 3,000 people in WPPI Vegas sharing what drives us crazy working together and lots of the perks, getting published in Portland Bride & Groom magazine and the cover art for our local wedding magazine, seeing all the new baby stories from past BRP couples over the last few years, winning ‘Best Wedding Portrait’ in Oregon for 2012, the many incredible client thank you gifts (including the CANDY BOMB!!) and most of all the client relationships we’ve created with clients past and new. What a JOY.
At the start of the year, we had some exciting industry education engagements from Wendy’s e-book release party, “55 Smart Web Ideas for Photographers” (which sold over 5oo copies) to together speaking at WPPI Photographer’s Ignite and from that, sharing in an interview with FastTrack Coaching with Dane Sanders and guest blogger on Skip Cohen’s blog. We are grateful for and excited about our affiliations with some amazing photography companies that help us do what we do namely: Kubota Image Tools, Pictage, Evolve, Fundy Software, Ripe Social, Sticky Albums, Finao and Black River Imaging – we thank you for your incredible products and service year after year!
We celebrated a blog redesign early in the year to showcase larger images, added Pinterest and Instagram profiles so we can share in the wedding design inspiration of our clients and up-to-date BRP happenings. Moreover, we’ve created the ‘BRP Client For Life’ program (portrait sessions for past clients) and added a beautiful premium canvas album line that we LOVE to our product lineup!
None of this would be possible without the undying support of our clients and vendors, friends and family whom give us the daily inspiration to keep shooting. It’s the relationships that make the images, that’s the true gift.
We wish everyone a Happy New Year and here’s to 2013~

Oh!!! We squealed with delight to see our artwork on the 2012 cover of our local wedding resource magazine, Celebrations Wedding & Event Resource Guide! {Carrie + Richard’s} beautiful Broken Top Club wedding gave way to this shot, where we included the red ‘pop’ of ‘Rita’ – our new red 1967 Mustang GT Fastback! You can say this cover has some love for both the women and the men in the wedding market world
Congratulations again to our beautiful bride; we are so delighted you hired us to capture your big day. Moreover, we want to thank Becky, Dave and Michael at Celebrations for choosing a piece of our artwork to be the spotlight for the magazine. This couple is near and dear to our hearts because we had the pleasure of working with the bride’s sister last year as well for their wedding! {Katy + Andy} radiate nothing but joy, humor and cheer between them that it’s totally infectious! The entire day was dreamy; from the icicles and snow dripping from this Sunriver Resort wedding, to the bright blue highlights of the bridesmaids dresses and the warm, golden light of the Great Hall interior of this beautiful venue.
As soon as I stepped into see how the gals were doing and the bride was singing into the mirror ‘microphone,’ I knew is was going to be a light-hearted and FUN day! The first look was tearful and beautiful and the family photos endearing and special to us to spend time with the bride’s family again! The highlight of the day was when Katy (being a TOTAL trooper) went with us out in the snow with just her strapless dress and stood in the heavy snow to capture an image we’re titling, “Snow Globe” (see below). What a treat to go for a little adventure (albeit COLD!) and get a total hero shot of the entire wedding! I can’t wait to see that 20×30 on your wall (please do take a picture for us!!). Thanks again you two for your fun-loving spirits and adventure.
