Who knew that a phone number on a coffee cup sleeve would be the start to this wonderful journey together, from running through sprinklers at midnight, a snowy week in, a road trip with Snuffleupagus to Utah, many summer days of disc golf, hikes to Falcon Point, concerts, hanging out with horses in Colorado, moving in, birthdays, eating lobster in Maine, spending a night in a haunted cabin, traveling to the North Pole on the Polar Express, weddings, eating at new restaurants, off-roading at Browns Camp, holidays, photo safaris, Blazer and Timber games, my first camping trip near Mt. Hood, visiting the chickens at Pistils, cooking, coconut oolong tea afternoons and most recently, a proposal on Mt. Tabor.

I look forward to adding to this list with you as your wife, this is just a start on our amazing lifelong journey.  I cannot wait to say “I do.”

Our path to each other might have been difficult, filled with many life-altering choices along the way, but every decision we made led to our chance meeting at the Martini Bar that cold winter night two years ago. After hours of dancing….and kissing that night, I had seemingly forgot your name…still sorry about that…I choose to blame the alcohol! LOL. Be that as it may, we no doubt left a lasting impression on each other that night;). What instantly attracted me to you besides the long silky hair you used to have, is was that when I told you I had children you weren’t scared, in fact you were actually intrigued. I have great respect for you coming into to our lives and loving us the way you do. Not only are you an AMAZING father to my children, but you are also an amazing partner and I cannot wait to marry you!! <3

Our wedding day will not just be the day we become husband and wife, it will also be the day that we officially become a family, and the kids and I will begin our lives as Steiners!

It’s crazy to think of how far we have come and how much we have changed and grown in the last two and a half years together. Thank you for always making me laugh and for making these last few years the best of my life. Your wedding was absolutely beautiful. It surpassed all of my expectations. You two were the epitome of a couple in love that day. Amy, you looked absolutely breath-taking in your dress. It fit you perfectly and no other dress would have looked as great on you as that one did. The flowers were amazing, along with every other detail. I was honored to be a part of it and to share in your happiness.

TJ, over the years, we have waited for a man to come along and love Russ as much, or more, as we do. We wanted someone who would step into that role and love him as his own son. I’ll admit, when Amy first told me about you, I was skeptical and told her not to get too attached. I didn’t want another man to come into Russ’s life, just to have him walk out again. When I met you, I knew you were that man we had been waiting for. It takes a special man to love a woman and her son. It takes an even more special man to love Amy and Russ. You do it, and you do it so indescribably well. Amy, you have found an amazing man who loves you, despite you flaws and weird quirks. I am so happy you found your match. You have been an amazing mother to Russ, now you can also be an amazing wife to TJ.

I pray that God will bless your marriage and teach you more everyday about how to love each other. Remember the quote by Bob Marley: “He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.” This goes both ways for you. Love each other for who they are and don’t try to change any of them. God created you just as you are for each other. I love you both! Congratulations on finding the one who is perfect for you and for becoming a happy family!

Being near you has made me feel more calm, safe and loved than I ever thought I could feel.  You’ve brought me across the world, walking non-stop for *hours* in beautiful, foreign places, and I have felt as safe and happy there with you as I have when we are curled up together on our couch with the pup. WOW!  From brilliant sun rays, to radiant aplenglows, to standing on the edge of cliffs….to a barking Corgy…this pre-wedding engagement session out at Smith Rock State Park had it all!  You two are so super cute and even through the chills and wind of the Central Oregon evening, you brought the love and body heat!  ha ha…  It was awesome Zack to swap climbing stories with you and even discover some of the same friendships.

You say it was love at 1st sight for you, but from first look I was attracted to your kitten blue eyes and adored your crooked smile. You have taught me to be more patient and slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Because of you, I see the world open with a softer side – that it holds so many wondrous adventures for us. I look forward to watching our kids grow, laughing in each others arms and eating breakfast together in some town that we can’t even pronounce right! I don’t know if you guys realized how adorable you two are from the outside looking in.  We had so much fun running around in your 1961 Austin Healey and even though it rained a little, you guys were totally up for anything!  John is a fellow wedding vendor and owner of Pave Jewelry in downtown Bend, Oregon (a custom jewelry and ring maker) as well.  Thanks again for going all out with your car (burn out and all) and getting rowdy in the process – we think the images captured that beautifully, which is what we were hoping for.  Fireworks inside and out are going to be blasting on your upcoming July 4th celebration.  Can’t wait!

{Artist Series}

Your wedding day is soon approaching, your reveling in your partner and nerves are kicking in. You reminisce about your first meeting, your first date, your first kiss…and dream about what it will be like to walk down the aisle. You want to express your love and fears, your joy and nerves, your appreciation and your goals as you are soon to share in life’s journey together. You’re given the opportunity to write a love letter, to whom you are about to marry and share with the world your love in written form. That is our letter series.

It’s a letter written from bride-to-be or groom-to-be to be paired with their engagement session images on our blog.

Fastforward to January where we heard about our favorite ‘First Friday’ venue TBD Loft community project for the year.  Their year-long series is inspired by Maslow’s ‘Hierarchy of Needs.’  This famous psychologist had a theory about every human sharing the same needs from survival to love…to enlightenment.  The ‘love or belonging’ June/July showcase was the perfect fit for the love letters and thus submitted our work.  Upon an excited acceptance, we debuted the pieces on Friday and will also be participating in the July ‘First Friday Art Walk.’  Seeing so many familiar and smiling faces was the best part about the show.  Thank you for all those clients, friends and fellow photographers for joining us!  Twist Cocktail Catering Co. (one of our fellow wedding vendors we love) was also serving up the bar all night long.

Most of all, thank you Paul Evers and the entire TBD staff for doing this project and including our work.  Your team continually pushes the envelope and creative community spirit of Bend.

Each of our letters have a ‘QR Code’ scan-able by your smart phone so they can view the wedding images from the couple.

Each piece had a handmade galvanized metal frame to accompany the metallic prints.

We all know that it’s easy to fall in love, what is more difficult is staying in love. Marriage is a commitment that keeps you together in those moments when one of you falls out of love with the other, so that you can fall back in love again when the cloud has passed.

Amy and Aaron, you are already a terrific couple; you communicate well, and you are generous with one another. You have shared many adventures, but this is only the beginning of the next great adventure.
