A Bend Family Fall Portrait with Kelsi and Best Friend, Angus
A good friend, Kelsi, called me up recently in tears as her dog, and best friend, Angus has been having liver trouble and it didn’t look good. She realized she didn’t have any really good photos of the two of them and wanted to know if we would do a family portrait. With fall colors in full rage, we set out to take Angus on a brief hike and follow the Deschutes river by Meadow camp in Bend, Oregon. Having two dogs of our own, Miles and Dizzy, we understand the connection between ourselves and our favorite pets (Idiosyncrasies and all). I hope Angus is able to pull through – he’ll forever remind me of a gangly teenager, connected at the hip to his mother and always drooling
We love ya Kelsi – all the best to you and I hope these images bring some smiles as you walk by them in your home of the wonderful dog that is Angus.
Jackie & Russ’s Reception In Pasco, Washington
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll most likely remember images in Bend, Oregon of Jackie and Russ with Mt. Bachelor as a backdrop or Russ swinging on a tree swing after their wedding. Since much of their family is up in the Tri-Cities area of Washington their plan was to have a reception where friends and family could attend. Wendy and I were asked to document this special occasion and what we encountered that night, beside the Columbia River, was one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen. The last image in this set is of a couple who recently got engaged. Of course I couldn’t resist having some fun with them as the light was way too good! Enjoy-
350 – International Day Of Climate Action In Bend, Oregon
Today I was able to participate in an event that extended beyond our Central Oregon town. Through the guidance of Bend’s Environmental Center, www.envirocenter.org, people rallied to the top of our only parking structure to show support for the environment. What is this you might ask? The 350 website reads: TODAY, the 24th of October, people in 181 countries came together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history. At over 5200 events around the world, people gathered to call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis. You can learn more at www.350.org.
All in all, a great time for a great cause. I really enjoyed talking to Hellen who is a teacher from Kenya. She gave a speech about her village and the need for environmental action. Her bracelettes were of interest to me after she explained to me that they actually tell her age, (since there are no birth records kept in the villages where she lives). In a world where many of us want to remain eternally young she was saying that she always tells people she’s much older to gain respect. Enjoy-
Julianne & Dustin In Downtown Bend, Oregon And Wedding Reception At Tetherow Golf Club
Whew, this was really a fun day in my and Wendy’s book of photo shoots! This was apparent to me as I sat down to edit what we shot and it took me forever to pick some fun shots to show everyone. There are WAY too many great photos from this day in Central Oregon and these images are only a small showing of the exciting time we had with Julianne and Dustin. I’ve had a few people say to me, “if something crazy pops in your head about a photo concept, don’t discount it, but go with it because 9 times out of 10 it will lead to something great.” This has always been a major part of why I love what I do and why our clients enjoy working with Wendy and I; however, it always helps to have bride and grooms willing to take on the challenge and trust the photographer as Julianne and Dustin did! Love you both, you two rock!
Emily and Luke’s Wedding – Sisters Airport, Oregon
After seeing Emily pull a 6-seater Cessna airplane out of a Bend Airport hangar – in her wedding dress, mind you – we knew we were in for a treat! I had the pleasure of flying with the bride and family to Sisters while her groom waited on the ground. The quaint, family ceremony took place under the freshly-snowed Cascades on the runway of the Sisters airport. The bride and groom endured a chilly, 50 degree day, while Luke sniffled with a recent cold – all sure to be the funny details of their wedding day to remember! This adorable couple are a great pair. Luke, Emily – we wish you both the best in love and happiness together. Thank you for letting us share our creative juices with you this very special day.
Dustin and Julianne’s Wedding – Haceta Lighthouse, Oregon Coast
Dustin and Julianne are a class act – energetic, fun and gracious in every way. Their wedding near the Haceta Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast was quaint and beautiful. Somehow nature provided one of the few sunny and warm days on the coast blessing them with good weather! The details impeccable, the ceremony sweet, the sunset spectacular – what more could you ask for? Some of the favorites below were taken when I snuck off with the bride and groom after the ceremony down to the beach near some tide pools that had formed. More to come on these two as this is part one of two posts. The next will feature the sassy downtown shots and reception details of their Tetherow (Bend, Oregon) gathering. Stay tuned…
